So we had 3 very nice shows last week of which 2 acoustic. And I must say it’s going better and better. Reactions are overall positive. Obviously we aren’t going for the popularity vote beacuse you know that some people will prefer loud guitars over acoustic ploink ploink. Make up your own mind and listen to a song on our Myspace. Anyhow, Punx.nl liked our acoustic 7 inch so much they made it CD (!) of the week and gave us a nice review.

In the mean time Riekus has been busy updating this site and improving what was not perfect yet, and now it all is! You can search this site through the search field on the top right, and some more social networks have been added next to it, Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm, PureVolume, you know the drill. From now on Facebook.com/antillectual is the direct link to our page over there, by the way.

Besides that we updated the merch section and took out what wasn’t available anymore and put in the new EP. Get it while it’s still hot and pink! We also have some samplers (for instance the 15 years AFA compilation) which aren’t featured. Email us if you’re interested, we’ll throw in some nice goodies like stickers and posters.

And last the interview we did in Mülheim in March is online at Get Addicted. There’s also a live video at the same site with a new song.

Let us know if you can help us out with a show for one of our upcoming tours! B-bye!

First of all thanks for all heartwarming reactions we got on the title of our previous post/news letter/press release. We promise to never do it again. We hope you can forgive us.

A tiny update from the back of the van again. So far we’ve had four shows on this tour and right now we are having a little two day break in Berlin, where we’re being hosted by our friends Vincent and Sophie. Unfortunately we have two days off, but there’s worse places than Berlin to sit through the day. The show in Dresden got cancelled somehow and that means we’ll have a last minute show at the VoKu in Finsterwalde in stead where we’ll disturb people’s dinner by means of an acoustic show.

The tour has been treating us kind up to this moment. In Erfurt we were asked to do an interview and two acoustic songs on Radio F.R.E.I. You should be able to listen to it somehow through this link. Our first experience in Poland was interesting to say the least. Extremely nice people speaking a language that is hard to follow. And today we spent 4 hours in an enormous traffic jam between Poland and Berlin, but a highway can be entertaining outside a van as well.

Hope to see you at a show to come:
May 26 Ger Finsterwalde VoKu *Acoustic*
May 27 Cz Republic Prague 007 Club w/ Criminal Damage, Germ Attak
May 28 A Wiener Neustadt Bandhouse
May 29 Ger Zwiesel Jugendcafé Zwiesel
May 30 Ger Chemnitz ajz-chemnitz w/ I Walk the Line, Trainwreck, Just Went Black, Glasses, North Shore, Kenzaris Middle Kata, Vengeance Today, Down on knees I'm weak, Komissar X

As we speak we are working on new music, lyrics and a revolutionary way to combine those two. Most likely they will appears as "songs" on a future "album", but we can't guarantee "anything". It seems our previous album ("Testimony") is available in JAPAN exactly 1 year after the release in Europe! Check Fast Life Records on how to order some piece of that. Check out this review in Japanese (we think) and please let us know what it means. Does this really say we're NOT METAL?!

Since the amount of social networks is getting enormous and we can't keep up with updating them all, we want to stress that this website is and always will be the number one source to spread our shite from. Myspace is updated pretty often as well, but that's about it. Obviously, feel free to check out all the places we're trying to infiltrate to gain some "attention", or shamelessly increase your own crowd of "friends" by adding us at these places:

Myspace!

Facebook!

Twitter!

Youtube!

Last.fm!

Picasa!

Flickr!

Isound!

This is insane. And maybe we even forgot about 1 or 2 …

The Shield showcase was an enormous success. Thanks to all people for coming out (from far away!) and to Gert and Fieke for organising. Pictures can be found online here. Looking forward to March 21, 2010!

Furthermore we're still looking for some more shows on the tours (ao Germany/Poland) we have planned so far. Please see if you can help us out. That's it for now. New news next time.

Hell yes! After a release in Europe through six labels, a USA release through Jump Start Records we are now proud and anxious to announce a Japanese release of Testimony through Fast Life Records! The record will be out in March and will contain some special bonus material. Check their myspace for information on Fast Life Records and the release (their blog if you understand any Japanese … but doesn't it look awesome?). We can't wait to get a copy of these.

If you happen to be from Brasil or understand Portugese, check out this item on MTV Brasil (scroll down a bit). And if anyone could tell us what they are saying we'd be pleased to know!

Since we want to get rid of some stock of old samplers you now get one for free with any merch order over 5 euro. So if you had doubts, this might make up your mind? Or maybe even more reason not to do it?

Since we try to penetrate all social networks around, Riekus created a Twitter account to which you can subscribe yourself if you want. And why not. We also started a Facebook account. But haven't done much to it yet. Again, feel free to drop by, subscribe, and perhaps even give us any tips on how to get that thing proper looking. Since it doesn't right now.

And last but not least is an interview in the UK fanzine Last hours with Yvo and Riekus. A video interview! Thanks to our friend Tom! Please check out Last Hours for sure, one of the best European zines around. For now.

Hey all, happy pappy new year! Hope you enjoyed your holidays and hopefully we all can continue our "normal" lives again. May 2009 bring you nice punkrock and prosperity for all.

Speaking of useless end-of-the-year-rituals, punx.nl made a year list that actually features our last release, even though the release was pretty early this year. Check it out. Nice top 5!

For our UK tour Yvo wrote a tour diary that we put on our site. This is a direct link. A USA tour report is still to come, hopefully soon!

By the way, did we ever tell you someone must have been bored enough to create a wikipedia page about us? Check! Feel free to add and complete the page. Now that's DIY!

Some small updates. First of all we'll be playing with a band that was a major influence on us when we started this band: No Use For A Name. Really exciting to be sharing the stage with them. And, as if it isn't enough, Only Crime will be playing too that night. Speaking of "All stars".

And for some reason it slipped through our fingers, but from now on you can find all our lyrics on this website. Look here for Testimony lyrics and here for Silencing Civilization lyrics. If it's written it's true! We also added the USA tour shirt we brought home to the merch section.

Furthermore we expanded our online hegemony through creating both a Twitter account and Last.fm group. Click on them to find out what is what and sign up or join if you feel like it. They are both still pretty much in a starting phase, so feel free to fire them up.

That's it. Hope to see you on the UK tour we're leaving for in exactly 1 week.

If you heard our new album and you're interested in some older tunes, you can still listen to/stream our old album "Silencing Civilization" on our Pure Volume account, "befriend" us, please.

We added some new shows. But still: not enough! We wanna play play play! If you can get us a gig: nice!

For the people that want to get in contact with us, it's better to email us directly than send a message on our myspace.
That's it for now! Take care!

Hello All!

Comment ca va? We have the best news in three years to tell you: we have a new record, "Testimony"! And a lot more things coming along with that. Please read on below:

* New album TESTIMONY is available!
* Release show
* Upcoming tour
* Reports
* Website down
* All tour dates

New album TESTIMONY is available!
You can order the CD from today. The price is 10 euro (excl shipping). Get it through pre-order from the following labels:

* Fond of Life Records (Germany, United Kingdom, Luxembourg) joe@fondoflife.net / http://www.myspace.com/fondoflife
* Infected Records (Portugal) infected_records@yahoo.com
* No Reason Records (Italy) info@noreasonrecords.com / http://www.myspace.com/noreasonrecords
* Rise or Rust Records (Austria) info@riseorrustrecords.com / http://www.myspace.com/riseorrustrecordcompany
* Shield Recordings (The Netherlands and Belgium) info@theshieldhardcore.com / http://www.myspace.com/shieldrecordings
* Youth Way Records (France) Alex@youthwayrecords.com / http://www.myspace.com/youthwayrecords
If you don't live in any of these countries in Europe, please order it from a country near you. In Europe the LP version will only be available through Shield Recordings. The band will sell the album (CD+LP) at shows from March 3. This is also the date when the album is available in shops throughout Europe. If you are a label or distributor interested in our record, get in contact with a label near you for wholesale prices.
If you haven't listened to the new songs, you can check them online at our myspace, we recently added a new song called "Friendly Fire". There you can also take a look at the beautiful artwork by Gemma Pauwels. The first review of the album is in already; if they all could be like this one … please have a read:

Antillectual – Testimony

From mid-tempo melancholic post-punk to thrashing punkrock! Antillectual is far from ashamed to militantly show its versatility on the band's second full-length album. Indeed, Silencing Civilization's successor is a straight up hit! Recognizable melody, emotion, and passion combined with somewhat unconventional structures, inventive guitar riffs and vocal harmonies. Propagandhi meeting A Wilhelm Scream meeting Strike Anywhere meeting No Use For A Name meeting Bad Religion with a hint of Hot Water Music? No, totally different! (But somewhat alike).

From the rising of the drums in opening song Testimony to the fade out of the swelling sounds in I Hope You Got My Letter, all are a feast for the ear and eye. Not the least for the eye, because again the socially critical lyrics and their explanations can be found in the booklet.

Plusses are among many things the hot Maiden riff in The Dog Ate It! and pleasantly up-tempo rocking songs like Waves and On Its Own. The only blot is the length of I Hope You Got My Letter that tends to stand out in that way. This could be a personal objection that no one agrees with though, so don't be bothered. If the record contained 4 more songs I wouldn't even have noticed.

Well, a band that spreads its message with this much passion and integrity and, on top of that, is a treat for the ear, what else could one wish for?How beautiful punkrock can be. *Sigh*

Score: 88/100

Some more publications will follow soon, including Testimony reviews and interviews in Up Magazine and Long Live Rock 'n' Roll among others.

Release show
To celebrate the new release we're having a release show on March 21. It will take place in cafe The Stage in Arnhem. Other bands playing will be Holland's finest:
* The Real Danger
* Gewapend Beton
* Smash the Statues
* New Pokerface
Entrance is 5 euro and it all starts at 19.30. If you're from Holland you can make it back by public transport for sure.

here we are, and here are the new songs. you can download them on the top of this page or listen to them at our myspace page. please do so and spread the word! hope you are just as happy with the new songs as we are. it might be your first chance to hear riekus on drums on antillectual recordings? these songs are recorded by nico "ultraruig" van montfort (o.a. face tomorrow, malkovich, instil) at the snowstar studio in panningen in march 2007.

more of the same will follow in late 2007 when we hope to release our new full length through an as-yet undecided label. if you happen to have a label that is interested in getting our music out there, please let us know. if you don't happen to own one, consider starting one?

did you already check out the merchandise offers we put up at the merch section? you can support us getting through the upcoming recordings by buying something from us. we'll take orders from all over the world. please don't buy something from us if you want to prevent us from recording anything at all, ever.

were: "hell yeah, that feels real good!" we had a lot of fun recording and the premature results, the unmixed songs we took home, are very satisfying already. we simply can't wait to record the songs for the full length later this year. nico, our engineer, is on tour and therefore the final mixings and mastering might not be done very soon, unfortunately. until that time we're looking forward to play those new songs live. keep checking this website and our myspace for news about the demo recordings.

speaking of which, our myspace now officially has been pimped. finally it looks like something. what, we don't know yet though. please, since we had to take down our guest book, leave us a message on our myspace. if you're just as much a sell out as we are, that is.

and, as you could already see on our myspace and could have heard if you pay attention to gossip, we will be touring the u.s.a. again! after 2 summers of absence, we'll be hitting the american east coast again in july. this time we found the people of static radio (u.s.a., chunksaah records) willing and able to take us (on tour, of course). if you can and want to help us out with shows, check the shows section and/or email us for the tour schedule.

last of all: our apologies, this website has been down, or visually handicapped, as you wish, for several days. hope everything is fixed now. a new website is on the way too, anyway …
