02 July 2007 ~ Comments Off on last words before leaving for the u.s.a.

last words before leaving for the u.s.a.

again it's been way too long since our last update. but again, we've been busy as hell with all sorts of band related stuff. even some shows! 2 days ago in france was amazing again, met the nicest people in the smallest town in france. and we met "iveco", just like your mom's latest gadget that you can sleep, watch d.v.d.'s and get transported in.

there will be a new website in september, more updates for sure by that time. in france we played the 2 last songs that we had to finish before recording so we're totally ready for both touring and recording. how about that?

about the transatlantic tour, all shows for the american leg are confirmed, some venues to be announced, but we're ready to go. for the european part of the tour we're still looking for 3 dates to be filled. if you can and want … you're more than welcome of course … about that tour, reload magazine is going to publish tour reports we will make for them. check the announcement at www.reload.nl and keep checking back to keep up to date.

the 7" that will be released through square of opposition records and glory days of youth records is finished and seems to be très bad ass. we can't wait to hold our first little piece of vinyl in our own hands.

if you're interested in listening to our "old" album, please go to our pure volume page and listen to the complete album "silencing civilization" in high quality.

at the show we played in venlo may 27 bas brader made some beautiful pictures and he wrote a nice review on his site. we actually made it to "Photo of the Month – June 2007". please check out the pictures and what he wrote on www.picturebeautiful.net.

the not tour related shows have been quite a problem lately. our show at the trashfest got cancelled due to … yeah, what was it? and the show we were supposed to play in oostende (bel.) with set your goals and no trigger got cancelled because of … euhm … well, indeed: the same. are we getting screwed over again without noticing it? but; finally down to earth, we have a new show in our own country, in a place we love: breda! the hall fest, come check us out please! any other slots to fill on your line up? let us know! [insert bad joke about slots/sluts here] that's it for now, hopefully the next 3 weeks will be just as good for you as they will be for us! take care.

03 June 2007 ~ Comments Off on holy fcuking shit

holy fcuking shit

you can't even imagine the responses we got in reaction to the new demo recordings! we knew it took us way too long, but it seemed worth it for sure. we're so happy so many people are just as happy with the new songs as we are. the reactions to the other new songs that we've played live were heart warming as well. the last few shows were really uplifting and positive, we're looking forward to what is ahead so much! now all we have to do is trick a label and get the new record out there, easy as that.

well, priorities: the last days we've been working on the music and lyrics of the last 2 songs that will appear on the new album. that might have been the reason why this new update took so long. hopefully the songs will be ready right in time to perform them live on our u.s.a. tour and play them into the right shape for recording in august.

actually, we already have a new release set: for the first time in our existence a 7" with our music will be released. the label responsible for it is the pennsylvania based square of opposition records. the 7" will feature the three new songs and three songs taken from our last full length. the 7" will only be available through square of opposition records and on our u.s.a. tour dates.

there's quite some new shows on the shows section. both for the 2 upcoming tours as some individual shows. we're very happy that we got asked to play at the almighty trashfest again this year. and even happier that it will be in relation to the release of a anti-g8 sampler by grassroots projects. please check the new shows out and drop by if you get the chance.

also, we were asked to participate in an animal rights benefit sampler called "defend our friends" that will feature minor bands like ignite, good clean fun, samiam, closedown, latterman, i-farm, crane, planes mistaken for stars. i hope they're any good?

with all this talk about new jack shit, you'd almost forget about our last album that still receives amazing reviews. the belgian insider magazine posted a nice review on their site that you can check at our music section. also bobby in a volvo made a review a while ago just as sputnik magazine. please, check the reviews in our music section. added last are the last in line.

ok, this turned out to be quite an update. i guess there was much to mention, after a month without updates. we're also working on a new website which might be a little downer updating this old wreck, next to the fact that were just busy with other band stuff. but that's good. take care!

23 July 2006 ~ Comments Off on big f’ing news!

big f’ing news!

have we got shit to announce? oh yes we do. after forming antillectual, 6 years of being in a band together, having shitloads of fun in studios and vans, bob has decided to quit antillectual. even though it is not a complete shock coming out of the blue, the last year he has been focusing on his study, it was still an important and heavy decision to make. below you can read the statement bob asked us to put online:

 "hi everyone, bob here.
after a good talk yesterday with willem and yvo i've decided to leave antillectual. it was a hard decision but with a busy next year coming up i'm just not able anymore to just pack my stuff and go on tour. cause that's what being in antillectual is all about, playing as many shows as possible. i think we all agree on that. so after a nice talk yesterday i decided that it would be a good time to step out now instead being on tour and suddenly realize it isn't working out. so i'm sorry, no fights or whatever just a good talk. it could've saved metallica a lot of money! but enough lame jokes…
i want to thank willem and yvo for just everything, irina angry & peter youth, suzette, riekus for filling in for me. and everybody else that i've ever met/played with. i also wish suzette and yvo all the best and happiness with their own angry youth.
this is it. i'm signing out. thanks everyone for the last 6 years.
 toedeloe!" (july 16, 2006)

well, there you go … we want to thank bob enourmously for everything he has done for the band, all the time and energy he has put in the band and for putting up with us. there's no way we can thank him enough. as said, no hard feelings, pressure or arguments influenced his decision. neither do we criticize his decision, this is the best for both bob and antillectual. we wish him all the best for the future and his work as a sound engineer. if you want to send him a message you can do so through bob@antillectual.com, beware: do not disturb him during dinner.

fortunately enough antillectual will not be without a drummer now. a logical next step seemed to be asking riekus, being the replacement drummer for bob already, if he wanted to join the band for real. and he wanted to! so we can also introduce our new drummer rightaway: riekus. also famous from bands like brandnewday, stars overnight, straight a's and almost every band coming out of friesland. he already played around 30 shows with us the last months replacing bob and we're very happy he's willing to replace him permanently.

we're somewhere in between sadness of bob leaving the band and hapiness of having riekus as his replacement. fact of the matter is though, that we're still as strong as ever and more ready than ever. we'll be writing new songs this summer and hopefully playing a lot in the new season. got shows? keep 'em comin'! and in the future new releases will follow for sure. releases? schmeleases!

furthermore: we want to thank everyone that showed up at the show we played last friday at the valkhof affaire in nijmegen. it was a blast playing at such a big festival in front of so much people appreciating what we do. thanks! you can read a nice review of the show at 3 voor 12.

also; being three years late with every hype, we put some new songs on our purevolume and myspace sites.

unfortunately we have some less positive news as well, our show in boxmeer has been cancelled. hopefully we'll be playing the box some other time, but certainly not on september 23. but on the other hand, we have a new show for october 1st. in winterswijk that is. hope to see you then and there! keep 'em comin'!

20 November 2005 ~ Comments Off on shiiiiitloads

shiiiiitloads

after being banged totally numb by the new propagandhi album, we’ve almost recovered and are able to post a shitload of news again. here it goes … lately we’ve also been playing a shitload of shows. we wanna thank the people that organised those, and the people that showed up to support us. we made friends almost everywhere!

to keep on playing anywhere and everywhere we got a shitload of new shows, especially abroad. with a lot of international help from annie mae bookings. we owe them a lot! check the shows section for dates. europunk.net released an mp3 sampler featuring a shitload of mainly european punkrock/ska/hardcore bands. our contribution to the compilation was our mp3 "another guide (to comprehensive capitalism)" from our latest shit-loaded release ‘silencing civilization’. find all mp3’s here.

and some more news from europunk.net: they reviewed "silencing civilization" as well. you can find that review here. check out the rest of their site as well and support the european punkrock scene, a good looking site for a shit looking scene. just kidding, respect.

let’s talk merchandise: we got a shipload of new buttons with incredibly cool designs made by one inch fun buttons. go check out their site too, and laugh your asses off. on another merchandise note: the critically acclaimed zipped hoodies are slowly coming along as well. the design is finished and they’ll be printed any time soon. we hope.

last news is about our label, angry youth records. they will be releasing the new smash the statues full-length "against the stream". from what we (illegally) have heard it’s a great album by an even greater band! nice to have them on our side now!

that’s it for now. hopefully we compensated the lack of news on our si(t/d)e in the last weeks. hope to hear shitloads from you too!
