Hi, thanks for checking out Antillectual

We're a punkrock trio from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. We've toured and released albums worldwide since 2005. We like our punkrock political and melodic, combining the best of ’90’s skatepunk, ’00’s emo and ’10’s orgcore.

Transatlantic tour and fresh old releases

While it may seem that we are laying low (our last tour was in December) we are actually planning more than ever: tours, releases and new recordings!

  • Fest 11 + USA Tour
  • Re-releases “Start From Scratch!” and “Testimony”
  • Pre-production recordings and EP
  • New zippers and shirts

Fest 11 + USA Tour

Can we get a drum roll please? The biggest and best news by far is the tour that we have planned for October and November. After 4 years of absence, we will finally return on American soil. We have been confirmed to play the almighty Fest 11 in Gainesville, and we will be touring the USA on our way down to Fest. Details to be confirmed.

Re-releases “Start From Scratch!” and “Testimony”

Since all LPs of “Start From Scratch!” and all CDs and LPs of “Testimony” are out of stock, we decided to run a second pressing of both albums together with our friends at Shield Recordings. The 350 gatefold LPs of “Start From Scratch!” will be “seein’ red” and “Testimony” will see a reincarnation of 250 LPs in the “grey area”. The 500 “Testimony” CDs will be a jewel case edition.

Pre-production recordings and EP

Having written half a new album already, we decided to book some studio dates. In May we will record these songs to prepare ourselves for the recordings of our fourth full length album next winter. 2 of those new songs will end up on an EP which will be released later this year. Details to be confirmed.

New zippers and shirts

No re-release here! Freshly designed zipped hoodies and T-shirts! Stay up to date and support us by ordering a shirt, zipper, a repressed album or a nice package of shirt+album.

Shirts have the King Kong print on the front. A limited amount of these shirts, with a red and black print on white, will be sold by Fairtrademerch at this year’s Groezrock Festival. Speaking of Groezrock: make sure to stop by Shield Recordings and No Reason Records on the market, and treat yourself to one of Mom’s Veggie Burgers.

17 April 2012 ~ Comments Off on Merch auction – the sequel

Merch auction – the sequel

A couple of weeks ago we auctioned some merch items. 50% of all proceeds would go to Stichting Gast, a local foundation helping refugees in need. To us it was an experiment, but it turned out quite nice. We just wired a donation of 100 euro to Stichting Gast. Now that won’t solve the problems around (illegal) immigration, but at least it is a small step in the right direction. And our storage room looks a bit nicer. Thanks for contributing!

Speaking of alien threats, check our new zippers and T-shirts featuring our “new needed enemy” Kingkong!

Merch Blowout!

Here is a little experiment, for us at least. Over the last years we built a nice stack of rare, one-off and left over merch items. Bringing these to shows doesn’t make sense, but keeping them in boxes at home isn’t much better. So we are putting them up for bidding. 50% of all proceeds go to Stichting Gast (Guest foundation), a local organization that can use every euro to help refugees in need. See below if there is something you like and simply email us your offer. The highest bidder wins. If your bid is not the highest, or if you get out-bid, we let you know. Shipping costs will be added to your bid. Bidding stops in 2 weeks on Monday April 2nd. Click for our standard webshop.

13 March 2012 ~ Comments Off on Album release and tour in Brazil

Album release and tour in Brazil

Bom dia! We are very happy to announce a long cherished wish come true: a release of our music in South America. More specifically: Brazil. And of course, we will follow up with a tour in support of the release.

After having our last effort “Start From Scratch!” released all over Europe, the USA and Russia, we are now very proud to tell you that there now is a Brazilian release through Undermusic RecordsGet in touch with them to order your jewelcase copy of the album.

As an extra bonus to the release, Undermusic is booking our very first tour ever in Brazil. From November 1st to November 11th, we will be touring Brazil in support of this milestone. Details to be confirmed. If you wish to book one of these shows, please get in touch with our man Uirá at undermusicbooking@yahoo.com.br. Undermusic has a more than excellent booking roster with bands such as Mute, Atlas Losing Grip and many more, and we can’t stress enough how excited we are to finally set step in Brazil.

While we are working our asses off to write a new record, more touring news is to be announced very soon. Make sure you subscribe to our mailinglist to stay up to date with the latest and hottest. And some news too..

Take care, obrigado!

The New Jew, Geert Wilders

In 2008 we wrote a song called The New Jew, which ended up on our album “Start From Scratch!” in 2010. The lyrics are about Dutch politician Geert Wilders and a new political right-wing movement in Holland. We wrote liner notes to the song in the album artwork and we introduce the song and its message when we play it live. But since there was little English documentation about Wilders not many people outside of the Netherlands really know what the context is.

Since Wilders’ provocations no longer only stir Dutch Muslims but are pointed at Middle and Eastern European immigrants and workers, international political unrest started. Wilders’ political Freedom Party (PVV) created an official reporting site where people can file complaints about Middle and Eastern European immigrants and workers. Since Wilders and his party are part of the Dutch government, foreign politicians are not amused.

Also Dutch politicians, celebrities and artists have had it with this politician’s view points. Being the prophets that we were in 2008, many initiatives are being taken right now to speak out against Wilders and his ideas. The Black Atlantic (an upcoming Dutch folk band) will organize a big benefit concert in The Hague, and many (funny!) ironic reporting sites have come to existence.

In 2011 the BBC made a very interesting documentary (in English) about Geert Wilders. The makers followed him campaigning, standing trial on charges of “incitement to hatred” (a trial Wilders later won) and give insight in the international anti-Islamic network that supports him.

You can find the BBC documentary about Geert Wilders linked on our Youtube channel. Please have a look, educate yourself.

Read the introduction and liner notes we wrote ourselves, and listen to The New Jew.
